James was here

I'm very proud of this commission for the cover art for this week's edition of the literary supplement of the Italian newspaper Il Piccolo. The illustration is about the many years James Joyce spent in Trieste, a town that for many aspects was not so different from his native Dublin with all the related opportunities for debauchery he always enjoyed. So here he is, looking at this seedy alley of the port of Trieste, with its brothels, and sailors, and he’s tagging the wall with a cheeky "James was here”.
