A Night at the Opera

Friday 25 June, 10:50 pm, at the Verdi Theatre in Trieste the premiere of La Traviata is coming to an end, it’s the first post-Covid opera performance. A white van driving fast enters the smart pedestrian square in front of the theatre and stops near the theater exit. The driver and another man run out, open the side door and in a great hurry start unloading packs of freshly printed newspapers, placing them on a table in front of the exit door. It is the special edition of the newspaper il Piccolo for the restart of the theatres with my illustration on the cover.

11.00 pm, the performance has ended and the beautiful summer evening an elegant procession of music lovers flows out of the theatre, each with a copy in hand.
